The Digital economy of Australia is set to grow to $139 billion by 2020 according to a new report by ACS and Deloitte Access Economics.

The report indicates that a major skills shift was underway in the Australian economy.

Demand for ICT professionals is forecast to grow 1.8 percent by 2020 which is a bit less than the national growth average of 2 percent annually.

The largest growth area is projected to be ICT trades followed by ICT management and operations demonstrating the overall business growth over next five years.

The report indicates that six out of top 10 skills now sought for ICT Specialists.

About 2.5 million Australians in non ICT roles also revealed that digital literacy skills were an increasingly important part in their job.
